Prom Night!

Caleb asked Leah to the prom using hundreds of sticky notes on the back of her car. I asked him why he had to do that since they're already dating? He said, "I still have to be clever!" :)

Because they are both members of student council, they had to set up before prom and clean up after. It was quite an exhausting day, but they had a great time!

And, if it weren't for Jenna and Gabe, who ALWAYS get crowned royalty, Caleb and Leah would have won!  They were runners up and, therefore, prince and princess. I thought that was adorable and cool, he thought it was lame. Oh well!

Spring!!!

Less than 4 months and counting!  Can't wait to see you all!

I took Emily and Stephen to the ice park on Saturday, March 7th because Stephen would be in Juneau the following weekend and Emily and I would be in Anchorage the week after that for Spring Break. It was the only and best day for us to go. Unfortunately, it was also the day of a BLIZZARD!

Anyway... We made the best of it.

This one is my favorite in the single block division...

 I took this picture for my students because we sing a "hello" song each morning and "Sawadee" is hello in Thai.

Stephen's Tier III team took first place in their State Tournament in Juneau. 

His dad got to go so the victory was that much sweeter!

Emily and the rest of the beauty queens all set for the Alaska State Cheer Competition.

So, the squad performed a very clean, safe routine with no major mistakes, no drops and no injuries. Unfortunately, this landed them 3rd out of 3 in their division :(

They must perform a few more difficult stunts to gain more points and everyone needs to learn how to tumble!

After the Cheer Competition the girls cheered for both the West Valley girls and boys varsity basketball teams which were both in Anchorage for the State Tournament. 

That's a lot of cheering!

They're known as the Freshman twins.

Here is a group shot of the cheer chicks, girls varsity and boys varsity teams at the end of the tournament. The boys team took 4th and the girls team took and hard-fought 2nd.

After 6 days and nights all at the same hotel, this group bonded very well and had WAY TOO much fun!!!

Moose outside my bedroom window Friday morning...

The West Valley "Air Band" competition was held last Thursday. This is a fantastic, fun competition between the 4 classes.  Most of the routines were thrown together in less than 4 days!

Last year, if you recall, Caleb's Sophomore class took 1st place. They were ready to do it again...but, NOOOOO! This year's sophomore class beat them by 2 points!! The judges were very impressed with all 4 classes, saying this was the best competition ever.

I'm glad that both Caleb and Emily participated!  It's an awesome show and you all can see the real version in New Orleans! :)

End of February already?!?!

Hello Family!

I do believe, with the exception of one picture, that this will be a "Caleb Blog"

He is so hard to pin down for a photo or to find him doing anything but school, sleeping and hockey. Fortunately, this was a month for hockey and we got a lot of it :)

The game against Juneau was also "Senior Night".

My friend and fellow hockey mom, Kelly, and I put this event together. It's tradition that Junior parents do most of the work so the senior parents can enjoy the night along with their players.

We had posters and balloons, gift bags, flowers, cake and lots of pizza!

Ok, Emily's token picture is of her tricking Stephen.

She lured him over to the house under the false pretense that she needed his help with a science fair project - something to do with your sense of smell. The poor guy didn't know what hit him! We came to later find out that he had had a really bad day. We felt horrible, but he said it actually cheered him up.

Caleb asked Leah to the Senior Ball one night after a hockey game. He used whipped cream on her car and made a cute sign so she couldn't refuse :)

The night of the Ball all the girls got ready at Jenna's house and the boys scurried over after a game to beautify themselves as well.

I think it's adorable how most of the girls are still taller than their dates :)

After ball, they all went to Denny's. Caleb asked Leah to be his sweetie and she said yes!

Way to go Wolfpack!

Winning the MAC brought us to the state championship in Wasilla. 

We were joined by Rodd's parents  (Wayne and Cindy) and sister (Bunny).

After 2 amazing games, the boys entered the Championship game against West Anchorage.

Sadly, they lost 4-3.

Hockey is over and he doesn't know what to do with himself. 

He's looking forward to baseball, but that's still a few weeks away.

Emily is healing from her slight concussion after being dropped out of a stunt in cheer practice. 

Her squad will compete in March in Anchorage at the state cheer competition, then cheer on the boys and girls basketball clubs as they battle to win their state tournaments as well. Our girls are undefeated, but the boys have their work cut out for them. GO PACK!

She made a beautiful cake with fondant for the top.

It looked great, but not the greatest flavor.

We peeled back the top and ate the cake!

I was just ready to get back to normal and really needed something to do!

I'd like to say "thank you for all my stuff" as well.

We are so very blessed in so many ways... 

I love you all and look forward to next summer when we can be together again!
